Credentials for Riana Ferreira

Our current Director, Riana Ferreira, is an esteemed businesswoman who started her career in 1994 when she entered into the debt collection industry. She has grown from strength to strength, and now has over 28 years industry experience.

Herewith a few of her accomplishments over the past years:

  • 1998 – Appointed as member of the Council for Debt Collectors by the honourable Minister of Justice and constitutional Development – Dr PM Maduna MP in terms of section 3 (2) (b) (iii) the Debt Collectors Act, 114 of 1998 as the first woman representing the debt collectors industry for a term of three years. This is the most prestigious appointment for any debt collector.
  • 1999 Chairperson – South African Council for Businesswomen (SACBW).
  • 2000 – 2003 Regional Chairperson of the South African Council for Businesswomen (SACBW).
  • 2000 – 2003 – Re-appointed – Dr PM Maduna MP for another term.
  • 2003 – 2005 Member of the Board (SACBW).
  • 2003 – 2006 – Re-appointed – Dr PM Maduna MP for another term.
  • 2004 – Invitation as keynote speaker by The President of FENCA (The Federation of European Collection Associations) on “Trends and Developments in South Africa” at their international world congress held in Rome, Italy on 29th September 2004.
  • 2005 – Riana was appointed to serve on the Board of ADRA (Association of Debt Recovery Agents) and became a member of the association.
  • 2006 – 2009 – Re-appointed – Mrs BS Mabandla MP. Served on Disciplinary and Audit Committees.
  • 2009 – Established Collect A Debt – Debt Recovery & Tracing Solutions.
  • 2009 – 2013 – Re-appointed – Mr JT Radebe MP. Served on Disciplinary and Audit Committees.
  • 2009 – Riana was appointed by Global Credit Solutions (Pty) Ltd (Australia) as the South African partner.
  • 2011 – Finalist – Regional Business Achiever Award – Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa.
  • 2017 – Winner in the category Entrepreneur by the Businesswomen’s Association BWA/Investec – Regional Business Achievers Awards.

  • 2018 – Judge of the BWA/Investec Regional Business Achievers Awards.
  • 2018 – 2019 – Mentor and sponsor of the Businesswomen’s Association’s Mentorship program for women in business.
  • 2019 and ongoing – Member of the Nelson Mandela Business Chamber.
  • 2021 – Mentoring start-up entrepreneurs to establish legal entities after COVID.

STATUTORY APPOINTMENT

  • Council for Debt Collectors
Appointment by the honourable Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development appointed to serve as the first woman representing debt collectors on the Council for Debt Collectors in 1998. Various Honourable Ministers (MP) have re-appointed Riana to the board in 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2009, completing her 13-year term as a member of the Council, the Audit Committee and the Disciplinary Committee.
